"It must encourage a commitment to the apostolate on the part of the students themselves, so that they can become the evangelizers of the university world." "Young Christians trained to have a mature missionary consciousness must become apostles to their peers."
Pope John Paul II Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation, "Ecclesia in America", #s 269-270, 180, 168 LCCS HistoryLCCS began in 1982 when a representative body of Catholic students from throughout the state met for the purpose of expressing the needs of the group regarding their faith. LCCS was formed by students and campus ministers from around the state to effectively transmit the ideas and goals of the Catholic faith throughout Louisiana. Students are also encouraged to become active leaders in the organization and throughout their own ministries. Thus students from every university and college in the state have the opportunity to share their ideas and faith with others. For over two decades Catholic college students have come together at LCCS events and have grown intellectually, socially, and spiritually. Our MissionAs Louisiana Catholic College Students, we are the present and the future of the Catholic Church. We come together to evangelize and serve our schools and communities. We also strive to enhance and renew our faith as servants of God and Disciples of Christ. With love, humility, and joy, we accept and serve all persons as God's creation. In our commitment to God and each other, we promise to strive for a deeper understanding of God through the enlightenment and guidance of the Holy Spirit. We also promise to stretch out of our comfort zones in order to serve others enthusiastically and whole-heartedly, leading by example. With intercollegiate cooperation, we wish to serve in a spirit of support, encouragement, hospitality, and love, in a prayerful atmosphere where each person's unique gifts are used for the well being of all.
